InterAktion is an organisation active in the field of human rights, sustainability, and inclusion of marginalised people. InterAktion was founded during the refugee influx in Austria and Europe, with the idea of fostering integration for those with different cultural backgrounds, bridging obstacles and differences through intercultural dialogue and skills improvement. Over time, the organisation extended its scope of work and grew from being primarily a youth organisation into one that constantly seeks opportunities to help vulnerable populations. With the help of European Programmes, InterAktion can locally support those who would otherwise be left out from participating in social, economic, and political activities.

In 2020, InterAktion started working with adults, women, and families. In the WOWSA project, the organisation supported families from migrant backgrounds in developing digital literacy within the entire family. In 2022, the SILENT project began, supporting hearing parents of deaf children. Inclusion is at the core of everything InterAktion does, which was recognised by the Austrian National Agency. In December 2022, InterAktion was invited by the European Commission to the closing event of the 35th anniversary of Erasmus+ in Brussels to present its approach to inclusion at one of the sessions.

InterAktion focuses on raising awareness about global challenges and sustainable systems, helping communities and individuals understand sustainability as the product of a complex system that starts with personal and collective attitudes. The organisation supports its target groups in recognising and understanding the interconnected relationships between the economy, society, and the environment, and the effects that actions in one area have on the others. This enables them to recognise and define their own options and choices in contributing to and creating more sustainable and, most importantly, inclusive societies.

The public kindergarten of Agios Spyridon located in Nicosia, Cyprus accommodates about 39 children, most of them with a migrant biography, about 80% of them.

It belongs to the two-seat public kindergartens, with 2 kindergarten teachers, one in each class, the assistant director and the general assistant.

The kindergarten has been included in the DRACE programme implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, a programme for the learning of the Greek language to children with an immigrant biography. Both the kindergarten teachers and the headmistress and support staff have attended educational seminars for the reception and smooth integration of children and their parents with an immigrant biography in the new school environment.

SIRIUS is a membership-based organization that promotes the social inclusion of children and young people with migrant backgrounds by fostering their effective access to the universal right to education. SIRIUS facilitates a cross-sector approach bringing together researchers, policymakers and practitioners in the field of migrant education as well as migrants and refugees themselves. Together, with their members they identify challenges and needs, exchange good practices and find collaborative ways to accomplish mutual goals.

Their 3 main areas of work are: Analyze and co-creation of knowledge on policy approaches for inclusive education for children and young people with a migrant background; identify, share and promote good policy practice development, experimentation and implementation; disseminate results more widely and in more policy-friendly formats.

SIRIUS focuses on raising awareness about the global challenges and sustainable systems and helps communities and individuals understand sustainability as the product of a complex system that starts with personal and collective attitudes. They support their target groups to recognize and understand the interconnected relationships between the economy, society and the environment and the effects that actions in one area have on the other for them to be able to recognize and define their own options and choices in contributing and creating more sustainable, and most importantly inclusive societies.
